Did COVID-19 Pandemic Increase Cybersecurity Threats?

cybercrime-during-covid-19

Adapting the “new normal” isn’t a one-step task; it involves colossal changes in the corporate world. With millions of employees working remotely, businesses are concerned (somewhat forced) to invest in cloud-based security operations. From MNCs to start-ups, the business world is undergoing swift changes for a sustainable future.

One primary change that most companies have experienced first-hand is the increase in cybersecurity threats. Phishing scams, data breaches, and app-hacking is continuously affecting the corporate sector. Recent studies have proved that on-premises data is more vulnerable when compared to cloud-based assets, which indicates the importance of integrated security.

A survey conducted by Microsoft showed that a massive percentage of business leaders are planning to invest in multi-factor, cloud security services. On the other hand, some companies are overwhelmed by the new normal, because their security budget is on-the-rise. Whatever the situation is, secure data access is crucial for seamless remote work operations.

How Can Cloud-Based Cybersecurity Help Businesses?

Business continuity

The COVID-19 pandemic has bound massive workforces to their home offices, where data accessibility is the primary concern. A company that wishes to continue working despite this change has to ensure the employees have uninterrupted and secure access to the usable data. Therefore, cloud computing and system integration are primitive. Inaccessibility to business data and apps had initially halted several work operations, but with secure networks, i.e. cloud cybersecurity, accessibility didn’t remain a problem. Cloud-based functioning ensures continuous productivity and doesn’t need micromanaging, either.

Reinforced security

Initially, normalizing the new work culture posed a significant danger to the corporate world. However, with reliable cloud security networking, the situation changed. Businesses ensured safe access to their data, which resulted in a securer work environment overall. A majority of the business world deployed a zero-trust policy on their data, which reduced phishing attacks and spamming. The multi-factor authentication gives data access to the relevant employees, ensuring there’s no unnecessary exposure of the important details.

Ease-of-managing

Another advantage of cloud computing is the ease-of-managing, which let CISOs conduct seamless operations. Shifting towards cloud security bolstered business operations, which were previously on hold because of the pandemic. This secure and hassle-free accessibility paved the way for remote working, which is deemed as the future. When micromanaging is removed from the work process, it’s more manageable for both ends of the work chain.

Sustainability

Now when the organizations aim to continue this work culture, sustainable cybersecurity is more crucial than ever. The business world has experienced an unforeseen change, which brought several perks with it; remote working being the central one. Investing in reliable cybersecurity services is a long-term strategy, which is more reliable than handling the on-premises data.

Cybersecurity is the biggest concern for companies in this global era. With speedy work changes and data breaches, relying on a dependable medium is unavoidable. Cloud-based data accessibility has facilitated thousands of businesses in fighting and sustaining this massive pandemic, which is sufficient to indicate its significance.

Where COVID-19 came knocking down the global economies, the rise in advanced and secure technology indeed is the future!
