Top five cybersecurity predictions for 2019

cyber security

New Year is almost here and the cybersecurity experts are working and predicting the trends and threats that will make an impact in the world of cybersecurity in the coming year.

The EVP of cybersecurity has predicted some cybersecurity threats for 2019 which can be caused by an increase in malware, ransomware, and other cyber attacks.

Increase in crime, espionage, and sabotage by rogue nation-states

The cyber crimes have increased and the national, international and state level intelligence has failed to control it. Many of the organization are still not structured to defend against malware, ransomware and other cyber attacks which keep the firms vulnerable to the cybercrimes. To get protected a firm needs a good cybersecurity team who should be aware and good at breach detection.

Cloud insecurity – it’s your head on the block.

2018 has been a year of cloud insecurity and is expected to grow in the coming year. The numbers of devices and connected information are increasing rapidly. The cloud-based system is using organization data in different ways which are making the data more unsecured. Various famous organizations have been hacked in 2018 but still many organizations do not have good maintenance for cybersecurity.

Single factor passwords – the dark ages

Single factor password is one of the best tools a hacker can use to get access to the entire network. One of the best ways to protect information is through using multi-factor authentication solutions which have low cost and very easy to use. Despite being aware of this reason still many organization rely on a single factor password which makes them more vulnerable and will lead to a cyber attack in 2019.

Malware – protect or fail

There are various key malware like ransomware, crypto mining, banking Trojans and VPN filters that will threaten business and consumers in 2019. The traditional antivirus will not be enough to deal with the coming threats like malware and ransomware. It is vital for business and organizations to focus and get prepared to deal with malware.

IOT – an increasing challenge

IoT is the trending technology in 2019 and the increase in security challenges are also likely to increase. Organizations are adopting the new technology and are minimally aware of the risks and potential consequence. The increasing numbers of devices to the IoT will create insecurity in the areas where they were secure before.
