One in three organizations suffered data breaches due to mobile devices

Data breaches due to mobile devices have increased over the past year, but still, many companies do not protect their mobile assets. According to research, it was stated that one in three organizations suffers from compromise due to smart mobile devices. Mobile users are more vulnerable to phishing attacks and poorly coded sites. There are malicious apps and rogue wireless hotspots to exploit some specific mobile.

In the start of this year, it was found that many companies do not meet open mobile security standards and fail to protect their mobile devices. They fail to meet the necessary level of preparedness. They are not aware of cybersecurity and threats.

In a study, it was concluded that companies were at risk due to mobile threats and the risk has increased in the past year. The workers at the companies are not aware of mobile security and cybersecurity which keeps their companies vulnerable to data breaches. Not having proper cybersecurity and mobile security leads to data breaches, loss, and compromise of other devices.

Mobile security perception doesn’t match reality

In a study it was found that only 12 % of the organizations have implemented the four necessary protection to their mobile devices, that is encrypting data on public networks, changing default passwords, regularly testing security systems and restricting access to data on a “need to know” basis. It is essential for companies to adopt the necessary security to their mobile devices. By changing the password and testing the security system regularly helps in avoiding data breaches.

Many companies feel confident about their security system as they believe that can detect problems more quickly, but in a study, it was said that 63% of the cases were reported by the third party like customer, partner or law enforcement.

If an organization adopts at least one solution, it helps in detecting security incidents, mobile endpoint security, data loss prevention or protection information and event management (SIEM).

Many companies have realized that it is vital to have a proper cybersecurity system for their mobile device and some are promising to implement the necessary security protection this year.

Former employees and current employees mostly cause mobile threats. The danger may be posed by organized cybercriminal groups, hacktivists, state-sponsored actors and partners. Some of the companies follow acceptable use policies (AUPs) that covered mobile device use which helps in avoiding the mobile threat.

To improve the security for mobile devices, it is vital for an organization to take some action like assessing, protecting, detecting and responding and the level of sophistication, baseline, and much more.
