05 Simple Tips to Increase Your Small Business Security Using Inexpensive Cybersecurity Measures

Lots of data breaches have been reported in 2018 and it is a sign for every business to get secured. It is important for large as well as small-scale business to protect their data from data breaches in 2019. As small businesses usually do not have a security team to deal with breaches or protect data and there is more chance that the data will be hacked. The largest obstacle for small business is that they have limited resources to invest in cybersecurity products.

Given below are a few inexpensive cybersecurity measures a small business can use to protect themselves from cyber crimes.

Change Your Passwords

The data can be secured by using a strong password. Another way to get secured is by running your email and usernames through Troy Hunts HavelBeenPwned tool, that runs the personal information through a personal account data which is illegal accessed and released.

Another best way to protect your business is to avoid changing the password frequently because when they change their password within every 90 days they use a pattern which is called a transformation. They use their old password and change it in a small way and come up with a new password, which is easier to guess.

Use a Password Manager

To get a strong password, one needs to use a password manager tool like LastPass, Dashlane, or Sticky Password. Through these tools, one can get a unique, strong, and secure password for every site. It helps to get security benefits of changing a password without making things difficult for the workers.

Delete Any Unused Accounts

The hackers usually use an old or unused account to get access to your network. An old account is mostly left by old employees or during a transitioned to a new system and if you don’t have an off-boarding plan in place. It is good to have good housekeeping on old accounts to get a new start.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication

It is important to have a strong password along with two-factor authentication to have some extra security on logins. Two-factor authentications add extra security to logins and make it harder for attackers to get access to an account.

Keep Your Software Up to Date

One of the inexpensive ways to secure your business is by updating the software. By upgrading the system it becomes harder for the attackers to attack the system. When a network or system is not updated it becomes vulnerable and the hackers can get access to it by a more advanced system and software.
